The e-commerce shot list: how to plan a complete product set
06In e-commerce what drives conversion is not a single beautiful frame but a complete set. Since the customer cannot touch the product, every question must be answered with an image. So the shoot begins with a list before the camera is switched on.
The frames every product needs
- Hero frame: pure white background, product centered, compliant with marketplace rules.
- Angles: front, side, back and top view.
- Detail: close ups of texture, material, stitching, label and mechanism.
- Scale: a sense of size by showing the product with a hand, a model or a reference.
- Lifestyle: a scene staged in the environment where the product is used.
- Video or 360: a short rotation for motion and volume.
Why the list changes everything
Without a list, a shoot is only as good as the frames remembered on set; a missing angle, a detail noticed too late, means a second shoot day. A list prepared in advance both lowers cost and guarantees consistency across the whole catalogue.
A good set is built not on the set but at the table, before the shoot.
We start every project with a shot list built around the product's needs. This way we make sure both the brand and we aim at the same frame, and no angle is left to chance.
